- To provide day to day care for inpatients under the supervision of a daily consultant ward round
- Perform / assist in major resections as appropriate to their level of experience and the complexity of the case.
- Join the on-call rota in General Surgery (1:12)
- Share in the teaching of Medical Students (from UCH/Middlesex, Southampton, St George's and also from abroad) and junior doctors.
- Participation in any current research programme.
- Administrative involvement .
- Attendance at weekly meetings in General Surgery , Morbidity and Mortality, Journal club and Multidisciplinary team meeting. Attendance is encouraged at all Tutorials and Postgraduate Education within the Hospital.
- FRCS/MRCS or equivalents are required
- Registration with the GMC
- Basic Life Support
- Evidence of continuing professional updating
- Awards/distinctions whilst studying for previous degree
- Advanced Life support
- Evidence of safe, sound clinical practices
- Appropriate Speciality Experience
- Previous NHS experience
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads effective and work under pressure
- Proficient and efficient handling of medical problems
- Evidence of safe sound practical procedures Communication effectively both verbal and written
- Understanding the importance of multi-disciplinary approaches to patent care
- FRCS/MRCS or equivalents are required
- Registration with the GMC
