- Experience with looked-after children
- Experience with safeguarding
- MB ChB or equivalent
- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- Level 3 child protection training
- MD, PhD or other higher degree
- Experience of Audit
- Teaching of junior medical staff
- Trained Clinical Supervisor
- Teaching of medical students
- Trained Educational Supervisor
- Publications in recognised Clinical Journals
- Specialist interest in areas complementary to other consultants in the departments
- Research projects relating to the specialist area
- Organisational skills
- Communication skills
- Leadership skills
- Involvement in service development and/or quality improvement processes
