Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, with an electrical bias, to work on an annualised shift pattern* with a large manufacturing company in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance as well as responding to emergency machine break downs throughout the plant. They will have involvement with new design, installation and movements of existing machines, overhaul and repair of machines and equipment as well as ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose. You will have the opportunity to progress through a Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer with a formal grading structure. Relocation package offered for the right person.*Core working hours are Monday to Friday 07:00am to 15:00pm whilst working the Maintenance Shift pattern the successful candidate will be working the following hours:10 x weeks of Back Shift (1 in 5) Monday to Friday 15:00pm to 23:00pm (30 minute unpaid lunch).5 x weeks of Night Shift (1 in 10 Sunday to Thursday 23:00pm to 07:00am (30 minute unpaid lunch).10 x weekends Saturday 7am - 3pm and Sunday 7am - 3pm* (with a 30-minute unpaid break). Where you are rostered to work the weekend, you will be allocated 2 'off days' as your rest days mid-week.Bank Holidays – You are required to work any bank holidays that fall immediately before and/or after your duty weekend shift. You will be given the relevant number of days worked on bank holidays back in lieu to be taken at a time agreed with your Team Leader. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day bank holidays will be covered on a voluntary basis, as patrol only.In addition to the working hours above, individuals can volunteer to be on 'standby' with an associated 'on call' payment over the weekends.Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and carry out Preventative Maintenance.
  • Ensure all machines are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Installation of new machines and equipment.
  • Overhaul, upkeep and repair of all plant machines.
  • Working knowledge of PLC control sensors and automation equipment.
  • Electrical Installation.
  • Review and advise on Engineering requirements and drawings.
  • Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits.
  • Actively promote safe working practices.
  • Work with and co-ordinate Contractors.
  • Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications.
  • Fault Finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and parts.
  • Where a detailed specification is not provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost-effective solution to remedy the defect.
  • Contribution to the company objectives and values.
  • To adhere to Company Rules / Health and Safety / Environmental Standards and Practices.
  • To attend training and continuous development opportunities as required.
  • Continuously look for improvements to the service and for effective good practice within the role.
Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience within an Electrical Maintenance role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering/ Electromechanical Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering experience would be highly desirable.
  • Minimum of a BTEC Level 3 or ONC (or equivalent), HNC or above would be highly desirable.
  • Previous Electrical Maintenance experience within a Manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to undertake shift work (Annualised Hours pattern*), overtime and call outs as required.
  • Effective communication skills including internally and with Contractors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
