- Develop and implement standards of obstetric & gynaecological practice and have a major role in developing specific pathways, guidelines and risk management
- Train and educate staff in a multidisciplinary team
- Ensure effective teamwork
- Bring experience to clinical diagnosis and opinion
- Audit the effectiveness of practice and modify it as required.
- Work in conjunction with the nurses, midwives, administration team, managers and colleagues.
- MRCOG or equivalent
- Full doctors GMC registration with Licence to Practise
- Two appropriate ATSMs or Equivalence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Possesses training and education skills to teach junior medical, nursing and midwifery staff
- Demonstrates Leadership qualities
- Provides learning opportunities within the clinical environment
- Candidates should ideally be on the Specialist Register
- Possesses training and education skills to teach junior medical, nursing and midwifery staff
- Demonstrates Leadership qualities Provides learning opportunities within the clinical environment
- Wide general gynaecological and obstetric training
- Confidence in performing major gynaecology surgery and intermediate minimal access gynaecological surgery Management of high risk labour ward
- Experience in Advanced minimal access surgery or total laparoscopic hysterectomy will be beneficial
- Training and interest in Clinical governance
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to establish good working relationships with staff and be able to communicate well with patients.
- Supportive and nurturing towards junior medical, midwifery and nursing workforce

- Training (and preferably accreditation) in another area of specialisation such as laparoscopy, ambulatory hysteroscopy, maternal medicine and/ or gynaecology scanning
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's Values and Behaviours
- Physical fitness sufficient to carry out full range of duties safely and completely
- Acceptance that the post requires a strong service commitment
