
Laboratory Shift Technician

- GCSEs/A Levels (or equivalent) in science-related subjects
- Knowledge of laboratory test methods and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work
- Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential
- Perform sample analysis in line with agreed procedures and standards
- Maintain accurate records of testing, observations, and calculations
- Input results into the laboratory system and produce reports
- Carry out daily statistical quality control testing and highlight abnormalities
- Support inter-laboratory correlation schemes
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with ISO and accreditation standards
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, reporting incidents and near misses
- Maintain stock levels and ensure effective handovers between shifts
- Uphold high housekeeping standards within the laboratory
