We are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Coventry. This role is central to supporting a pupil with additional needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them engage with learning, manage their emotions, and develop independence. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent support and encouragement tailored to the child’s needs.Key Duties
- 1:1 Support: Provide personalised assistance to a pupil with SEN, ensuring their learning and wellbeing needs are met.
- Classroom Assistance: Help the teacher deliver lessons and adapt resources to suit the pupil’s needs.
- Emotional & Behavioural Support: Encourage positive behaviour and use strategies to support self-regulation.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and report on the pupil’s progress and achievements to teaching staff.
- Inclusive Practice: Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom and school community.
- Supportive School Community: Work within a caring team dedicated to helping pupils with SEN succeed.

- Previous experience working with children (school or SEN setting preferred)
- Understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to build strong relationships
- Good communication skills and ability to follow guidance from teachers
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant SEN training (e.g., Team Teach, Autism Awareness)
- Experience working 1:1 with children in a school setting
- Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)
- Recent work-based references
