Business Unit: Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D)About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking motivated and reliable General Operatives to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team at our Woolavington location. This role will support the optimum running of the Project Stores and Yard in connection with the delivery and maintenance of high-voltage overhead transmission lines across the UK.What you'll be doingTo Assist with:
- The HGV driver with all duties
- The Stores Person of all duties.
- The co-ordination of plant & stock ensuring all administration procedures are
- Liaise with operational Staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged
- Unloading & loading of delivery vehicles.
- Check deliveries against advice notes and for quality, quantities & damage.
- Hiring, acceptance and off hiring of plant and equipment.
- Management of the calibration of tools & equipment (inc Lifting)
- Security of yard ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel
- Ensuring yard(s) and store is always tidy.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.
- Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements.
- Do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
- Bring to the attention of your manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others.
- Do not undertake any safety critical work activity or activity for which a specific competence is required unless you have received the necessary training/instruction and/or assessment and hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work. Do not instruct others to undertake such work if they do not hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work
- Full clean driving licence
- Ability to work in a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
- Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.
- Knowledge of the Power industry (is an advantage)
- Valid Telehandler licence (will be an advantage)
- OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)
- Emergency First Aid at Work
