Let's grow together … Main PurposeTo be responsible for the day-to-day management of all contract and workshop matters for the North Devon and Somerset West and Taunton contracts. To ensure the company's contractual obligations are met, and staff are managed as per the company's rules and procedures. Ensuring all SLAs and KPIs are monitored and are being delivered via the workshop staff or third-party suppliers. Optimising vehicle availability, minimising maintenance spend with a primary objective of legislative compliance.Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for management of multi-skilled technicians within the North Devon workshop and Somerset West and Taunton satellite workshop
  • Day to day liaising with the customer to build and keep relationships, ensuring the requirements of the customer are in line with the contracts and the workshop can support the requirements. Maximising customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all sites and employees are Health and Safety compliant and meet with company and legislative requirements
  • Fully responsible for overseeing the maintenance in line with manufacturers recommendations, legislation and contractual obligations. This will include but is not limited to: -
✓ Management of vehicle repairs and servicing to ensure they are carried out cost effectively, both internally and sub-contracted.
✓ Maximise the vehicle availability to the customer.
✓ Ensure manufacturer warranties are considered in all repairs and liaising with relevant manufacturers over the necessary claims.
✓ Ensure workshop paperwork and processes are completed to the highest of standards on a timely basis.
✓ KPI compliance
✓ Supplier SLA compliance * The day to day control of all aspects of a busy municipal workshop including shop floor work loading, service scheduling, quality assurance, work authorisation, close control of systems and the provision of technical advice and assistance, including the control of parts
  • Negotiate, monitor, measure and recommend third party suppliers to support the in-house maintenance facilities in ensuring the contractual requirements for the customer are delivered
  • To ensure the fleet management system is used in accordance with company and legal requirements, which further enable accurate reporting and financial cost control
  • To ensure that all personnel on site are effectively managed, display high level of professionalism and are sufficiently trained to carry out their responsibilities effectively including positive performance management of the staff
  • To support the wider SFS business by maintaining vehicles from other SFS contracts and the rental fleet
About YouKey SkillsEssential Skills
  • Have a recognised vehicle engineering qualification for HGVs i.e. City & Guilds
  • Hold a Certificate of Professional competence (CPC) National
  • Ability to effectively implement and control Health and Safety management in all workshop operations
  • Presentable, proactive person with the ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner having excellent communication skills, focused on seeking to resolve any problems
  • Have a track record of successfully managing workshops
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to influence change at all levels
  • Excellent organization skills, with high levels of attention to detail with ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines.
Desirable Skills
  • Municipal vehicle maintenance experience
  • A HGV category C driving license would be advantageous
  • Hold a recognised IOSH Health and Safety management qualification
  • Hold membership of IRTE or for a similar organisation.
