SPEN are looking for a SAP Programme Manager to join them on a 12 month contract basis, starting end December/January 2026.Role: Programme Manager (SAP)
Business: Scottish Power Energy Networks
Location: St Vincent Street, Glasgow/hybrid style working
Duration: 12 month initial contract
Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options availableThis role will be required from January 2026, however an earlier start of mid December would be ideal for handover purposes.Job Purpose StatementAs an SAP Programme Manager, your primary responsibility is to lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of SAP implementation and enhancement projects, ensuring they meet strategic objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to drive the successful deployment of SAP solutions, enhance operational efficiency, and support business transformation initiatives.Accountability StatementsProject Delivery
  • Timeliness: Ensure that SAP projects are delivered on schedule, meeting all critical milestones and deadlines.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and financial objectives are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Guarantee the quality of project deliverables, ensuring they meet both business requirements and technical standards.
Strategic Alignment
  • Business Objectives: Ensure that SAP initiatives align with the organisations strategic goals and contribute to business growth and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Maintain alignment with key stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring their needs and objectives are met.
Risk Management
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Proactively identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Issue Resolution: Manage and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal impact on project progress.
Team Leadership
  • Team Management: Lead and manage project teams, ensuring effective collaboration, motivation, and performance.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure appropriate resource allocation and utilisation, optimising team skills and capabilities for project success.
Communication
  • Status Reporting: Provide regular updates on project status, including progress, risks, and issues, to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between project teams and stakeholders.
Change Management
  • Change Control: Manage changes to project scope, ensuring they are documented, approved, and communicated effectively.
  • Organisational Readiness: Ensure that the organisation is prepared for changes brought by SAP implementations, including training and support for end-users.
Compliance and Standards
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that SAP projects comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Adherence to Best Practices: Ensure projects follow SAP best practices and methodologies, maintaining a high standard of delivery.
Continuous Improvement
  • Post-Implementation Review: Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lessons Learned: Document and share lessons learned to enhance future project delivery and processes.
Vendor Management
  • Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, ensuring they deliver on agreed terms and contribute to project success.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors, ensuring compliance and performance.
Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceRequired:
  • In-depth understanding of SAP modules (e.g., SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW).
  • Knowledge of SAP implementation and integration processes.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and resource management skills.
  • Risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Change management expertise.
  • Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Budgeting, cost estimation, and financial planning skills.
  • Deep understanding of business processes across divergent functions (e.g., finance, purchasing, HR).
  • Proven history of managing large-scale SAP projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience with full-cycle SAP implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
