Job DescriptionThe roleJoin us as a Field Application Specialist (FAS) and assist us in our mission to become the world leader in serving science. This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, guidance, application support and troubleshooting. At the center are our sequencing portfolio with Ion Torrent and Applied Biosystems Next Generation Sequencing and Sanger Sequencing instrumentation and applications.This is a field-based role, involving extensive travel across United Kingdom. Occasional support needs to be provided to customers in the Nordics, Benelux, or Baltic countries. When not travelling we are working from home. In doing so, we will help to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty and contribute the overall success of the business.
  • Deliver on-site and remote scientific application support to our customers on our NGS and CE products.
  • Perform product demonstrations and training at customer or company sites
  • Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints
  • Work with sales representatives on sales calls to customer laboratories to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries
  • Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in NGS, CE and related subjects
  • Build trust with our customers and excel in customer service
How will you get here?Education
  • Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar (Masters or PhD preferred)
Experience
  • Several years’ molecular biology laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience with NGS and/or CE
  • Bioinformatics experience highly encouraged
  • Experience in communicating technical materials in written and verbal form
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Customer-facing experience, with the emotional intelligence to understand customer concerns
  • Able to connect with and support people optimally with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
  • Good computer and/or IT skills and have an interest for groundbreaking technology
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% weekly), including frequent overnights
  • Proficient in English
  • Driving licence
