The Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) will have responsibility for managing adults with complex acquired dysphagia and communication disorders, including tracheostomy management in a fast paced acute setting. They will provide a service to a range of acute specialities including General Medical, Oncology, Neuro Outliers, Care of the Elderly/Frailty and Critical Care. Experience in running/participating in Videofluoroscopy Clinics is desirable and further training can be provided. There will be opportunities to participate and upskill in our newly established FEES service.The post holder will manage their own day-to-day caseload and oversee that of junior staff in the acute team ensuring appropriate patient flow throughout the hospital. They will participate in supervision, appraisal and development of junior staff and students. The post holder will be expected to provide second opinions and specialist advice where indicated and they will work collaboratively with patients/family/carers and within a multidisciplinary framework.
