Applications are invited for the above post which will be based at the Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust.The Interventional Cardiology department is one of the biggest in the UK and Europe. Interventional Cardiology, along with Electrophysiology makes up one of the three clinical directorates within the Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital. The Barts Heart Centre is the biggest in the UK with its complement of 10 catherisation labs (5 of which are dedicated to Intervention).Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will work within the Interventional Cardiology and structural heart intervention at Barts Heart Centre and will participate in the Heart Attack Centre rota (1 PA). The job plan will provide expert care to an expanding population of patients. The post-holder will be expected to be an independent operator for diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures including structural heart interventions. The post-holder will contribute fully to the general management of cardiac patients through ward rounds and outpatient clinics, and will be required to have received full accreditation in cardiology as a trainee.The post-holder will support the overall delivery of inpatient and outpatient services, as well as the advice and guidance helpline.Opportunities exist within all the departments to undertake research and education as a part of the Centre of Excellence Strategy of the Trusts.This is an outline program, and the post holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Directors for Interventional Cardiology and structural heart intervention.It is intended that the post holder will work approximately 8.5 PAs (direct clinical care) per week, and 1.5 PAs (supporting) when averaged through the year.
