Our client is a fast-growing Nordic owned data centre company, leading the way in sustainable, high-performance computing across Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and beyond. With an expanding footprint and a strong commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility, they are seeking a Design Manager to join their Development team.About the Role:As a Design Manager, you will be the technical and commercial expert for the region, responsible for implementing and overseeing the design of all physical data centre infrastructure. You’ll work closely with the Director of Design and Development team to ensure that all builds align with the standardized design principles, including architecture, mechanical and electrical systems, security, and sustainability.You will manage design and build-out projects from master planning to commissioning, collaborating with engineering partners, contractors, and suppliers while driving efficiency, quality, and standardisation across all locations. You’ll also support site selection efforts, validate Capex budgets, and act as a key point of contact for technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle.This is a hands-on, cross-functional role suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, with a keen eye for design consistency, sustainability, and technical excellence.About You:You are an experienced electrical or mechanical engineer, ideally with 5–7 years in data centre or infrastructure projects. You understand the complexities of critical infrastructure design and construction, and can balance long-term planning with agile execution.You are structured, proactive, and collaborative, with strong project leadership skills and the ability to simplify complexity and guide diverse stakeholders. You have an eye for sustainability, and bring an innovative, solution-oriented mindset to everything you do.Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5–7 years’ minimum experience in engineering, preferably with data centre or large infrastructure projects
  • Deep knowledge of data centre critical infrastructure design
  • Familiarity with building systems, construction processes, and ideally Nordic regulations
  • Fluent in English; other Nordic language is a plus
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the Nordics and be available outside regular business hours when needed
  • Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills
