- NVQ LEVEL 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Equivalent
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accuracy Checking Technician qualification
- NVQ / A1 workplace assessors qualification
- Management qualification
- Significant previous experience and knowledge of working in a hospital pharmacy
- Line management experience
- Excellent working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services led by technicians
- Experience in delivering of education and training of other staff
- Experience of change management and/or project work that influenced change
- Experience of handling conflict including concerns raised by patients or staff
- Involvement in service audit
- Contribution to SOPs and report writing
- Knowledge of Medicines Management and relevant legislation and policies
- Demonstrate an understanding of current pharmacy and NHS issues
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
- Organised and able to prioritise own work and that of others to ensure that objectives are met within agreed deadlines
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Skilled in problem solving and decision making
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to negotiate and deal with complaints in the first instance
- Ability to deal with constant interruptions to provide advice and ensuring effective communication to ensure pharmacy provides a good service to all customers
- Ability to guide senior Pharmacy Technicians with training, supervision, and mentoring.
- Proactively provide suggestions, ideas and solutions for service improvement
- Excellent keyboard and computer skills (email, databases, spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software)
- Accurate and methodical -good attention to detail
