Join us as an Assistant Scientist and make an invaluable contribution to our Food Safety & Biosecurity!As an Assistant Scientist, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of our laboratory. From preparing culture media to managing waste disposal and maintaining essential supplies, your work will directly contribute to the success of our scientific research. This is a hands-on, practical role ideal for someone who enjoys working with precision, keeping things organised, and being part of a collaborative team.This is a part time position, 15hrs a week working Thursday & Friday.What you’ll be doing:
  • Preparing high-quality culture media and buffers.
  • Autoclaving waste and meticulously cleaning glassware.
  • Managing stock levels of essential lab supplies.
  • Collaborating with scientists, facility teams, and contractors to keep everything running like clockwork.
What we’re looking for:
  • A relevant science qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in busy environments.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong time management and task prioritisation.
  • Committed to producing high-quality work.
  • Clear and confident communicator—both written and verbal.
