The ideal candidate will:
  • Be duty-qualified or hold Higher Rights (advantageous but not essential)
  • Possess a strong academic record
  • Have a genuine interest in criminal defence law
  • Demonstrate excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Be committed to access to justice and delivering first-class client service
The Role As part of the Crime Department, you will:
  • Prepare and manage criminal defence cases from investigation to trial
  • Advise clients at police stations, Magistrates', and Crown Courts
  • Prepare appeals to higher courts as needed
  • Participate in the out-of-hours rota
  • Build and maintain an own client following
  • Handle both legal aid and private client work
  • Work independently and collaboratively as required
