- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and budgets during preconstruction and tender stages.
- Conduct cost planning, value engineering, and feasibility studies to optimize project expenditure.
- Manage procurement activities, including tender preparation, subcontractor selection, and contract negotiation.
- Monitor ongoing project costs, analyse variations, and evaluate subcontractor claims to maintain budget control.
- Prepare interim valuations, progress payment applications, and final accounts in accordance with contract terms.
- Review contract documentation, drawings, and specifications for commercial implications and compliance.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project managers and site teams to mitigate risks.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to resolve disputes and commercial issues.
- Maintain comprehensive records of costs, contracts, variations, and correspondence.
- Prepare regular commercial reports and financial forecasts for senior management and clients.
- Support project close-out processes including final account agreement and dispute resolution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, procurement guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Participate in contract reviews, claims management, and dispute resolution processes.
- Assist in developing and implementing best practices in cost management and commercial operations.
- Collaborate with finance teams to reconcile project accounts and support auditing activities.
- This is not an exhaustive list and other duties requiring similar skill levels may be required.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills, along with knowledge of construction methods, building regulations, and relevant software
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field. (This can be ongoing).
- Proven experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, preferably within external component refurbishment and new build projects.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control procedures.
- in cost estimating, cost Proficiency, planning, and measurement techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools (e.g., MS Excel).
- Full UK Driving Licence
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2 to 3 years' experience in construction.
