This includes managing complex patients, supporting the 2 pharmacy technicians working in Emergency department and policy development for the specialist area.In addition, there will be opportunity to do quality improvement project on improving the prescribing for the care group.The post holder will participate as part of the multi-disciplinary team in Emergency Department to support consistent and effective medicines optimisation. This will include monthly attendance to the care group governance meeting and medication safety meeting.The post holder will also have a commitment to the core services such as dispensary cover, extended hours service on acute medical floor and on call as well as contributing to a comprehensive clinical pharmacy in Acute and Emergency MedicineThe Emergency Specialist Clinical Pharmacist will be a line manager and/or mentor to junior pharmacy staff and will be encouraged to participate in audit, project work and completion of Non-Medical Prescribing.Clinical Practice· Provide a patient focused clinical service· Demonstrate and apply the principals of effective medicines optimisation as part of day to day activities· To identify and address any medication safety concerns within their clinical area.· Escalating when needed to senior clinical pharmacy staff· Effective contribution to the MDT to which the post holder is assigned as a clinical pharmacist· Make appropriate referrals as part of effective medicines optimisation demonstrating excellent clinical reasoning and judgement· To ensure effective clinical handover to other members of the MDT and beyond in supporting safe patient care.· To support and develop the clinical pharmacy service· In all aspects of the role to follow legal, ethical, professional and employers’ codes of conduct.Leadership· To act as a role model for all pharmacy staff and specifically for junior pharmacists and trainee pharmacists· To promote effective clinical pharmacy services as part of the MDT/service to which the post holder is assigned· To review practices and make suggestions for improvements in services.· Implement these changes in practice.· To promote, develop and share best practice.· To implement agreed clinical governance initiatives.· To develop clinical pharmacy services in line with local and national objectives.· To work collaboratively with the whole healthcare team to deliver high quality services.· Provide leadership to pharmacy teams at weekendsManagement of service· To provide clinical pharmacy in accordance with Trust procedures and priorities set by the Advanced Pharmacist in Acute
