The post-holder will initially be the first point of contact and provide support for staff who wish to raise concerns related to sexual safety or who have experienced sexual misconduct or other sensitive workplace incidents. The post holder will report to the Lead for Vulnerable People/Corporate Nursing . The Sexual Safety Liaison Officer will responsible for implementing culture change and embedding sexual safety awareness across the Trust. Their focus will be ensuring that staff feel safe and empowered to report concerns . The role will also include promoting a safe environment across the Trust, in line with the Sexual Safety Charter and programs of work that advocate for UHNM to become a safe place to work and learn. Advocacy for those raising concerns regarding sexual safety in the workplace will be essential to this role. The post holder will champion, in collaboration with the Corporate Safeguarding Team and HR People Team in raising awareness regarding sexual safety, across the Trust to students, staff and patients, and support in education of related sexual safety education. The post holder will work collaboratively with Operational Managers and HR colleagues to ensure departmental managers are trained, confident and supported to deal with concerns of this nature.Main duties of the jobThe role involves regular exposure to distressing and challenging situations in the workplaceTo utilise empathetic and self-awareness skills to deal with bereaved relatives who may have barriers to understanding information due to their grief or disability, and to always remain highly professionalTo be computer literate to enable the effective use of various bespoke software packages/databases, allowing activity data relating to the work of the service to be analysed and reported on by senior colleaguesTo ensure Datix incident forms are completed promptly as necessaryTo adhere to guidelines and legislation surrounding the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection RegulationsTo maintain an awareness of the diverse needs of the workforce, to ensure equality to any group defined by sex, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender reassignment and disabilityChampion awareness about Sexual Safety across the Trust to students, staff and patients.About usUniversity Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country.
