
Shift Maintenance Technician

- Conduct planned preventative maintenance to ensure machinery and equipment remain in optimal working condition, reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimise disruption to production.
- Carry out daily inspections and checks on equipment, identifying any faults or areas for improvement.
- Order and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for maintenance tasks and emergency repairs.
- Work closely with production teams to understand machine performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, inspections, and compliance checks, including fire safety systems, emergency lighting, and safety equipment testing.
- Train and support colleagues in maintenance best practices, including troubleshooting procedures and standard operating processes.
- Monitor and improve energy efficiency by identifying opportunities to reduce power consumption and improve sustainability.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring quick resolution to minimise downtime.
- Participate in company audits and ensure all maintenance procedures align with internal and external compliance requirements.
- Communicate major or recurring equipment issues to management and provide recommendations for long-term improvements.
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Proven maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in electrical and mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings
- Experience in pneumatics, inverters, servo drives and motors, robotics, process wiring, and safety controls
- Experience in fitting and setting up mechanical components
- Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
