This is an opportunity to contribute to award-winning designs in sectors such as education, arts, leisure, commercial, and residential, with a particular focus on the conservation and reuse of historic buildings.As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and specification of electrical systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Specification: Develop detailed electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, data, communications, fire alarms, security systems, and lightning protection.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver integrated building services solutions.
  • Sustainability Focus: Contribute to the design of low-energy buildings, including those aiming for Passivhaus and BREEAM certification.
  • Technical Analysis: Utilize tools such as lighting 3D modelling, thermal, energy, ventilation, and daylighting simulations to inform design decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with UK building regulations and industry standards.
  • Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings, providing technical expertise and ensuring client requirements are met.
  • Mentorship: Support and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
  • 2-5 years' experience in electrical building services design consultancy.
  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong understanding of UK regulations and standards (e.g., BS 7671, CIBSE).
  • Experience with energy performance calculations and sustainability assessments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
