Salary: £37,694 - £46,049FTE: 1 (35 hours/week)Term: Open ContractClosing Date: 14 September 2025We have an exciting opportunity to join the Communications and Engagement team working at the heart of CELCIS, the Centre for Excellence for Children's Care and Protection. We're looking for a communications all-rounder with a record of achievement, who values storytelling and thrives on working in multidisciplinary teams and projects. Suitable candidates will need the skills, knowledge and experience required to help CELCIS to continue to deliver high quality, impactful outputs which help people to understand the needs of children, young people, their families and carers, so that people working to support them can make improvements to support, services and experiences in Scotland and further afield.This Communications Manager role in CELCIS's Communications and Engagement team works across a number of subject areas, including children protection, and different tasks, projects and responsibilities at any one time. The work covers real depth and breadth across our work. Examples of this include advising colleagues of what's being reported about key issues affecting policy and services; helping to reframe the language of care experience; producing, designing and promoting reports; developing communications plans and materials for long-term projects; facilitating background briefings for journalists; and supporting guest authors to write posts for the CELCIS blog.The role requires the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing contexts and needs, and to exercise attention to detail. Candidates need to have an interest in and respect for the voices and experiences of people with personal and practice experience of children's care and protection, and to be open and curious, working with sensitivity in a trauma-informed environment.The Communications Manager reports into CELCIS's Communications and Engagement Lead, has line management responsibility for two Learning and Engagement Officers, and candidates will be required to have good organisational skills including experience of managing capacity and resourcing.This post is being recruited as an Open Contract and is subject to continued grant funding.
