- Deliver hands-on training and workshop instruction across a range of prison industries, adapting to the specific needs of each area.
- Supervise and motivate prisoners, promoting positive behaviour, safety, and productivity.
- Manage workshop operations to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and security protocols, including tool control and prisoner searches.
- Carry out risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment.
- Complete administrative duties such as attendance logs, shift reports, and quality checks.
- Provide regular updates and reports on prisoner progress to case managers and relevant staff.
- Communicate effectively with prison staff and workshop managers to ensure smooth handovers and continuity.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing, cleaning, waste management, horticulture, sewing/upcycling, or similar.
- Ability to quickly adapt to different workshop environments while maintaining high standards.
- Strong skills in supervising, motivating, and managing a team of prisoners.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping and reporting.
- Awareness of health, safety, and risk assessment procedures within industrial or workshop settings.
- Understanding or willingness to learn prison security protocols, including Level A and Level B prisoner searches.
- Ability to provide tailored support to prisoners with diverse needs, including those with neurodivergent traits or mental health challenges, is desirable.
- Experience in a custodial or secure environment is an advantage.
- Qualifications in manufacturing or industrial operations are desirable but not essential.
