We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.The Research Computing team at the University of Leeds is a cornerstone of the university’s research efforts, designing, building and supporting innovative solutions to research computing problems and supporting our research community across a range of domains including Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Data Science. As the hosts of the University HPC (high performance computing) systems, our team also supports researchers from a wide range of departments across the whole University to utilise the HPC systems to perform modelling, analysis, and simulations, which are crucial components of their research.We are seeking a motivated Assistant Research Software Engineer who is eager to support world-class research through software development, data handling, high-performance computation, advocacy for reproducibility, and support for sustainable and efficient research practices.In this role, you will help provide the services and systems that enable data- and compute-intensive research. Additionally, you will contribute to the discovery and development of new tools, practices, and systems within this field. You will have a portfolio of responsibilities that includes a mix of service delivery, research support, innovation, and teaching activities, tailored to your skills, preferences, and level of seniority.You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider research computing community, helping to build connections, share knowledge, and represent Leeds at regional and national events.This position offers the opportunity to enhance your technical knowledge and make a significant contribution to a vibrant research community.Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role is not suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants.
