Contract: Full-time, PermanentMake a real impact in public procurement – lead, support, and guide a high-performing team.We’re seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Assistant Procurement Manager to join our client This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how procurement is delivered ensuring compliance, efficiency, and value for money in every contract.About the RoleYou’ll be managing a team of six Procurement Officers, supporting them in delivering the procurement work programme. This includes the re-procurement of existing contracts, the procurement of new contracts, performance reporting, monitoring legislative changes, and work associated with the implementation of a new tendering system.You will be responsible for:
- Line managing and mentoring the Procurement Officers through regular one-to-ones and daily guidance.
- Overseeing workload distribution to ensure compliance with procurement legislation and the council’s contract procedure rules.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on compliant tendering procedures across the organisation.
- Supporting delivery of our business plan objectives, including strategic procurement initiatives and performance reporting.
- Have strong and demonstrable knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the Procurement Act 2023, and the Provider Selection Regime.
- Possess significant experience working within public sector procurement, with the ability to advise on complex regulatory requirements.
- Be an excellent communicator who can confidently articulate procurement processes to internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Bring experience of team management or demonstrate a clear ability to lead, support, and develop staff.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data and performance metrics.
