About The RoleIf you’re passionate about empowering people living with dementia to have their voices heard, then we’d love to hear from you!People living with dementia can often feel lost in decision making processes, particularly in the final stages of their dementia journey. As an Advocate Volunteer, you’ll be visiting people living with dementia in the community to support with advocacy cases and ensure they can express their views, concerns and wishes. Through establishing strong trusting relationships with the people you’re supporting and their carers, you’ll make a huge difference to the lives of people living with dementia, ensuring they can make choices and have their rights upheld.This role will support the York Local Services Team and the citizens of YorkVarious volunteering hoursInterested?   • You are knowledgeable or willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people
  • You have experience of interacting with the health and social care system
  • You are empathetic, patient and have a caring attitude
  • You have excellent verbal communication and listening skills
  • You are over the age of 18
