We’re supporting a dynamic and fast-growing financial institution in the search for a Senior Operational Risk Manager. This is a critical hire into a second-line risk function that is evolving quickly, both in terms of its operating model and technology.
You’ll be joining at a pivotal time: the organisation is mid-way through a controls and governance transformation, including the implementation of a new enterprise GRC platform (MetricStream). Your role will be to provide expert oversight, data-led challenge, and help embed a more mature, insight-driven operational risk culture. What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as a central point of operational risk insight, challenge, and assurance across multiple business units.
- Represent the operational risk team in key forums, contributing to strategic and day-to-day discussions with stakeholders.
- Take the lead on delivering monthly and quarterly board-level risk reporting, drawing actionable insights from risk data and trends.
- Collaborate on the implementation and rollout of MetricStream, supporting data migration, training standards, and control updates.
- Provide second-line support for core risk management activities including RCSAs, KRIs, incidents, and thematic analysis.
- Coach and develop more junior team members while contributing to the overall performance and capability of the function.
- Support the development of operational risk policy, appetite statements, and group-wide risk frameworks
- Experience in second-line operational risk within financial services is essential.
- A strong analytical mindset – able to synthesise large sets of risk data and turn it into meaningful MI for senior audiences.
- Proven experience writing and presenting risk reports to executive committees or boards.
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to constructively challenge peers across business units.
- Comfortable in a changing environment – ideally you’ve supported a risk or controls transformation before.
- Working knowledge of GRC systems – familiarity with MetricStream or involvement in a GRC system migration is highly desirable.
- A self-starter who brings curiosity, adaptability, and a clear voice to the table – it’s not about tenure, it’s about impact.
