Contract: PermanentRole Overview:In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing child protection conferences and reviews, ensuring that the voices of children and families are heard and that their welfare is prioritised. You will work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure effective safeguarding practices and promote positive outcomes for children in care.This position is ideal for an independent-minded social work professional who is passionate about child welfare and has a strong understanding of safeguarding processes.Key Responsibilities:
  • Chairing Child Protection Conferences:
  • You will chair child protection conferences, ensuring that all relevant information is shared and that all parties have the opportunity to contribute. You will facilitate discussions to create a clear understanding of the child's needs and the risks they face.
  • Independent Reviews:
  • You will conduct independent reviews of children’s cases, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met and that the child’s best interests are at the forefront of all decision-making. You will prepare and present comprehensive reports that reflect the current circumstances of the child and the effectiveness of the intervention.
  • Advocacy for Children and Families:
  • You will advocate for the rights of children and families, ensuring their voices are central to the process. You will work to build trust with families, providing them with the support they need to engage fully in the review process.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration:
  • You will work closely with social workers, health professionals, education providers, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding. You will promote effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved in the child's care.
  • Monitoring Action Plans:
  • You will monitor and evaluate action plans developed during conferences to ensure that they are being implemented effectively. You will follow up on any recommendations made and ensure that progress is tracked and reported.
  • Statutory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • You will ensure that all practices are in line with statutory regulations and local policies, promoting high standards of practice across the safeguarding system. You will contribute to the quality assurance of the IRO service, providing feedback on practice and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Training and Development:
  • You will participate in training and development initiatives to keep your knowledge up to date and to ensure best practices are implemented within the team. You may also contribute to the training of other professionals on safeguarding processes.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • You will maintain accurate and detailed records of all conferences and reviews, ensuring that documentation is completed in line with local authority policies and statutory requirements. This includes writing reports that provide a clear overview of the conference outcomes and any actions agreed upon.
Person Specification:Qualifications:
  • A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree or Master’s in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work)
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Post-qualifying award in child protection or safeguarding is desirable

  • Significant experience in chil
