- Assisting the Physiotherapist in the delivery of individual and group rehabilitation and exercise sessions.
- Supporting residents with prescribed mobility exercises, stretches, and the safe use of mobility aids.
- Helping residents achieve personal mobility and functional goals in line with their care plans.
- Promoting and encouraging safe mobility and posture throughout the home.
- Encouraging residents to remain active and engaged in daily activities that support mobility.
- Collaborating with nursing and care teams to integrate therapeutic movement into residents’ daily routines.
- Observing and accurately reporting changes in residents' physical conditions to the Physiotherapist or wider clinical team.
- Ensuring that all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with GDPR and CQC regulations.
- General Duties
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of group exercise classes suited to residents’ needs, including seated and standing formats.
- Provide encouragement and reassurance to residents during therapy sessions.
- Contribute to progress tracking by monitoring resident engagement and providing feedback to the Physiotherapist.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to promote mobility and reduce the risk of falls.
- Attend training, supervision, and reflective practice to support professional development.
- Adhere to all KYN policies and procedures, including health and safety and infection control.
- Clinical
- Work under the clinical supervision of the Physiotherapist to assist in implementing treatment plans.
- Apply a basic understanding of mobility support and physiotherapy principles.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of resident participation and outcomes in therapy sessions.
- Participate in handovers and team discussions to ensure continuity of care.
- Gain appropriate consent before supporting residents in mobility or exercise tasks.
- Promote the dignity, privacy, and choices of each resident during therapy interventions.
- Qualifications
- Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience in a health, care, or support role
- Willingness to undertake relevant in-house and external training
- Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Manual handling, falls prevention or mobility training
- Skills and Experience
- Essential criteria
- Experience supporting older people in a care, rehabilitation, or physiotherapy-related setting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A compassionate, encouraging, and motivational approach
- Ability to follow care and therapy plans accurately
- Ability to observe and report changes clearly and effectively
- A team player who is also able to work independently under supervision
