Veritas Education is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark, South East London, to recruit an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, starting September 2025.This is a vital role within the school, working directly with pupils who need consistent, firm, and compassionate behaviour support. The successful candidate will need to remain calm under pressure, be proactive in de-escalation techniques, and be committed to helping every child succeed.The Teaching Assistant Will Have:A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)Substantial experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and/or SEMHA strong background in behaviour management strategiesExperience working with children with autism, ADHD, or attachment-related difficultiesA calm, consistent, and patient approach to working with vulnerable childrenExcellent communication, resilience, and teamwork skillsKey Teaching Assistant Responsibilities Include:Providing consistent, one-to-one support to pupils with challenging behaviourImplementing behaviour support plans and working closely with the SENCo and pastoral teamSupporting children in and out of the classroom to help them engage with learningAssisting the teacher in maintaining a structured and positive classroom environmentHelping pupils to develop emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skillsWhy Work With This School?Supportive and experienced staff team with a strong pastoral focusRegular training in behaviour management and therapeutic approachesA nurturing and structured environment with a clear behaviour policyConvenient transport links and a strong, inclusive school communityHow to Apply:If you are a committed Teaching Assistant with proven experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, we'd love to hear from you.Apply now or contact Veritas Education for more information at 020 3026 6150.Veritas Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
