Balfour Beatty Rail is on the lookout for a dynamic and engaging Bid Writer to join our high-performing Work Winning team.This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of rail infrastructure by crafting winning proposals that secure major projects across the UK.We are open to base location for this role.What you'll be doingAs our Bid Writer, you'll be at the heart of our tendering success-transforming complex information into clear, customer-focused submissions that stand out. You'll collaborate with subject matter experts, capture best practices, and bring our bid strategies to life through powerful written content.
  • Lead the narrative: Write persuasive, tailored responses for PQQs, ITTs, and MSQs.
  • Collaborate with experts: Extract insights and technical detail from SMEs to build compelling content.
  • Drive strategy: Capture and develop 'win themes' from tender strategy sessions.
  • Deliver excellence: Work to tight deadlines and ensure every submission meets the highest standards.
  • Support growth: Create bespoke materials for business development and account management.
  • Champion innovation: Research and write about project innovations, best practices, and success stories.
  • Enable knowledge sharing: Contribute to our knowledge management systems to strengthen future bids.
  • Bridge teams: Liaise with operations to ensure alignment and clarity in technical responses.
  • Mentor others: Share your expertise and guide less experienced colleagues in proposal best practice.
Who we're looking forEssential Skills and experience:
  • Proven experience in a work winning or tendering environment.
  • Exceptional written English and confident verbal communication.
  • Strong grasp of proposal writing techniques and customer-focused messaging.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Office Suite.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to seeing tasks through.
  • A collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivation and a proactive approach to adding value.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite publishing tools.
  • Knowledge of the rail industry or experience in project-based organisations.
