Job Title: Development Engineer
Location: Sites across the North West
Employment Type: £45,000 - £55,000 + PackageCompany Overview:I am currently working with a residential house builder committed to designing and constructing high-quality homes that enhance communities and meet the needs of modern living. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, they are looking to expand their technical team with a skilled and driven Development Engineer.Position Summary:The Development Engineer will play a critical role in the planning, design, and delivery of residential housing developments. This position involves overseeing the technical aspects of land development, including civil engineering design, infrastructure planning, and coordination with local authorities and utility providers. The ideal candidate will bring both engineering expertise and a collaborative mindset to help move projects from initial concept through to construction handover. This role will involve travel to multiple sites across the North West.Key Responsibilities:*Produce and review engineering feasibility studies, drainage strategies, and utility layouts
*Manage the design and delivery of civil engineering elements (roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks) for residential developments
*Liaise with external consultants, statutory bodies, and internal teams to ensure designs meet planning and regulatory requirements
*Obtain technical approvals (S38, S278, S104, etc.) from relevant authorities
*Monitor infrastructure works on-site, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with project timelines
*Prepare tender documentation and provide technical input during the procurement process
*Resolve engineering and design-related issues throughout the development lifecycle
*Support planning applications with technical inputs and engineering drawings
*Maintain up-to-date project documentation and recordsQualifications and Experience:*Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
*Experience in residential development, civil engineering consultancy, or housebuilding
*Strong knowledge of UK planning system, building regulations, and adoption procedures
*Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow)
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
