- To support the Registered Homes Manager in ensuring compliance with the company Policy and Procedures and meeting all OFSTED regulations.
- To deputise/act up for the Registered Manager in their absence.
- To ensure that the young people’s needs are recognised and met. This includes ensuring that they are free from discrimination within the home, and to challenge discrimination from outside of the home.
- To ensure that the home provides an environment that is safe and sensitive to the needs of the young people being looked after.
- To support the manager and the team to ensure that when the young person comes to leave the home that this is done sensitively and within the company’s discharge/transitions policy and procedures.
- To be instrumental in overseeing the development, monitoring and implementation of the individual young people’s care plans and case records.
- To ensure that each young person is supported in learning to take responsibility for their actions within their understanding and according to age and ability.
- To ensure that they are informed of their rights and responsibilities enabling them to have their wishes and feelings heard.
- To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.
- To ensure the Placement and Care plan for each child is followed and adhered to at all times.
- To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.
- To ensure that all staff act in a professional manner.
- To ensure all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments, are adhered to at all times.
- To ensure that all staff comply with the duty rotas and are included on a ‘rolling rota’, with flexibility, to gain maximum experience in the working methods of other staff.
- To ensure that all staff read daily communications and notifications to check all messages at the beginning of work or at any point during the working day as required.
- To ensure that all staff have written up any incident/accident forms, or restraint forms as applicable and that such information is passed to the Registered Manager within the agreed timescale.
- To ensure that all staff are familiar with and follow Local Authority Safeguarding Child Protection Procedures and SureCare Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures’.
- Ensure that you and the staff work in accordance with the Statement of Purpose and function of the home, updating relevant Channels and Choices documents as directed by your Manager.
- Demonstrate effective leadership to direct and support the staff team to deliver person centred childcare working towards the best outcomes for each young person
- Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, The Quality Care Standards and the SCCIF, under which each home is measured and judged against and promptly implement any recommendations or address requirements to improve the service after any Ofsted inspection.
- Ensure Local Authority Social Workers are notified of all significant events, incidents, important changes and physical interventions within 24 hours.
- Undertake all administrative tasks necessary for the effective running of the home within Channels and Choices Policies and Procedures.
- As directed by your manager, ensure that the home is fit for purpose by ensuring that Fire Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations are met, Quality Assurance and Regulation 44 Reports action points are addressed promptly.
- Supporting the Manager in the performance and development of staff by conducting regular supervisions and annual appraisal process.
- Ensure senior meetings are held regularly, are documented and plans are discussed for how to support staff to develop.
- Participate effectively in the on-call duty system (both physical on call cover and advice on call support).
- Partake in Monthly Supervisions from our Senior Leadership Team and Wellbeing Service to support your Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Undertake White Trees Induction Programme – (4 days).
- Complete regular NFPS Physical Intervention and Behaviour Management Training (at times and as a last resort, you may need to use physical intervention to keep young people safe from themselves and to keep other young people, yourself and your colleagues safe.)
- Ensure all Mandatory training required is kept up-to-date so you can be aware of the most up to date relevant legislations.
- Attend all trainings which are booked in for you – these are all of value and should be privileged.
- Access to Level 5 through our internal promotions programme.
- DSL- Level 3 safeguard training for designated leads.
