- Identify and address performance/misconduct management issues in line with Company Policy, ensuring that poor performance or behaviour is correctly managed and is escalated to the Area Manager where appropriate.
- Ensure all staff always maintain the company uniform dress code.
- To motivate and develop staff in line with company objectives and using the tools and systems available (e.g., e-learning)
- Ensure welfare meetings are carried out with all staff members, highlighting, and managing any issues that may arise from this.
- Conduct 3 monthly and Annual appraisals for each staff member under the role remit.
- Ensure any required mandatory training is delivered to staff, maintaining accurate training records for this.
- Ensure all staff are briefed prior to shift commencement. Every effort should be made to engage with staff at the end of each shift and before the next one begins.
- Proactively communicate, engage, and act as a visible presence with staff ensuring post visits are carried out where possible. Where this is not possible, other methods should be explored.
- Ensure all staff within the Area (New and existing) have read and signed the Ais, SOP's and Risk Assessments prior to commencement of duties.
- Take ownership, responsibility, and accountability of all daily operations, and to support the Operations Manager in the smooth running of the Contract.
- To effectively manage site manning, Workplace+ and rosters to comply with the contracted hours and ad hoc requests, ensuring correct level of manning requirements and any cover required is arranged (e.g., holiday, sickness). Escalating any issues.
- To be aware of Hostile Reconnaissance techniques that may be employed against the building/s or occupants therein and to always be vigilant.
- Reporting, escalation, responding and investigation (if required) of all incidents
- Communicate with operational staff concerning incidents, ensuring that all information escalation routines are observed.
- Ensure Shift History is completed and report at the end of your set of shifts to the operations Manager any discrepancies/failures.
- Ensure Officers complete accurate records and logs of the highest standards of all/any events or as requested.
- To have a thorough knowledge of routine and emergency procedures and be able to respond efficiently and appropriately to any eventuality.
- Comply with Mitie policies and procedures advising the Operations Manager on any failures to comply and ensure the correct action is taken to resolve such issues.
- Provide the highest standards of written reports as required and knowledge of when they need to be sent.
- To provide the highest level of customer service ensuring that all persons either visiting or working at the site are always treated courteously and professionally.
- To act as an ambassador to the client organisation ensuring that their business is represented in the highest manner in all the duties undertaken by you, and by the security team.
- To ensure that Mitie and the security industry is represented in a professional manner and to always comply with the requirements of the Security Industry Authority.
- Make sure preparations are made in advance for any events and ensuring officers are fully briefed and ready for the task.
- Carry out systematic checks to ensure that staff pay is correct and to avoid any pay queries.
- Conduct security questionnaires / competency checks of staff on a regular basis to ensure high standards and knowledge from the officers. Identify and report any areas of weakness or areas for improvement.
- Escalation/Management of all duties in the absence of Operations Manager.
- To manage a work environment that adheres to the health and safety procedures and policies of Mitie and the client ensuring a duty of care to all persons on site.
- Attendance at staff meetings when required.
- To complete Welfare checks and staff uniform checks and act on discrepancies.
- Ensuring all security officers are trained to the highest standards with continuous training
- Carry out Audits throughout your set of shifts
- Carry out training exercises with your team throughout your set of shifts including tabletop and live exercises
- Carry out site penetration testing to ensure the security is robust
- Attend and take part in large scale scenarios to test operational readiness and procedures when required
- Ensure drills are carried out at least 2 a month to ensure officers are fully trained for any scenario
- Lead tabletop exercises with the staff in relation to security threats and how to handle them, look at issues and resolutions and write a report based on this
- All officers are to receive on-going training, and this should be recorded and any upskilling of officers on a training matrix along with what has been trained and how many hours this should be at least 15hrs a month of training with officers.
- Complete investigations and Disciplinary as per Mitie Policies
- Ensuring that any staff sickness or Blowouts are recorded on correct paperwork and HR action taken when needed
- Identifying poor performance or misconduct, ensuring all staff are always dealt with fairly and in line with MITIE's policies and any escalation to HR is recorded and dealt with swiftly.
- Possess excellent Customer Service skills and attitude.
- Experience in managing a security team.
- Experience of CCTV monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills to include the ability to compile reports.
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to work competently in multiple system applications.
- Front Line SIA licence in Security Guarding & CCTV Licence.
- A highly organised individual.
