Job DescriptionA Building Services Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing building services projects—these typically involve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within buildings. Their main goal is to ensure that building systems are designed, installed, and maintained to meet project requirements, budgets, timelines, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning
  • Define scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Act as the main point of contact between stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, consultants).
  • Lead project meetings and issue updates.
  • Technical Oversight
  • Ensure MEP systems are compliant with regulations and specifications.
  • Oversee the integration of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire safety, and sometimes sustainability systems.
  • Budget & Schedule Management
  • Monitor costs, procurement, and resources.
  • Adjust project plans based on changing conditions.
  • Risk Management & Quality Control
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure work meets quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction processes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with building codes, health & safety regulations, and sustainability practices.
  • Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, or Primavera.
  • Often requires a background in engineering, construction management, or building services.
Qualifications
  • Degree in:
  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
  • Construction or Project Management
  • Professional certifications (optional but helpful):
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • CIBSE or Chartered Engineer (CEng)
