Purpose:We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and compassionate part-time solicitor to join our busy Pursuer Injury Department located in our Edinburgh city centre office. The role will be a min of 21 hours per week Monday - Friday (hours to be discussed further at interview). The successful candidate will join our existing friendly and dynamic team of solicitors and paralegals and will require to run their own litigated case load consisting of personal injury and insurance cases. In addition, they will play a key role in supporting qualified and non-qualified junior members of the team and assist in the strategic planning to help shape the future of the team.The role is based in our Edinburgh office with a combination of home and office working (typically working 1 to 2 days in office and remainder remote working at home). You would therefore need the infrastructure to work from home. A company laptop will be provided.Duties/Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Handling own case load, of litigated and non-litigated files with the ability to demonstrate strategic analysis and provide sound solution-orientated advice.
Delivering excellent client care and advice and supporting clients throughout the duration of their claim.
Drafting legal documents for cases ranging from Simple Procedure, Summary & Ordinary Cause to Court of Session actions. To be able to advise clients on the implications of legal documents, taking statements, ingathering and assessing evidence, co-ordinating investigations and instruction of necessary expert witnesses and counsel, and conducting advocacy in sheriff court hearings.
Work collaboratively with other team members to look after clients and to ensure continuous compliance with agreed service standards, assisting junior team members and assisting with training;
Being actively involved in the practice areas to assist with business development, networking and strategic objectives in order to assist growth.
Skills/Competencies required:This would suit an applicant who has previous experience of handling RTA/Public & Occupier Liability injury claims from CPAP through to Proof and has the ability to analyse and research legal issues. Clinical Negligence experience is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate solid experience of pursuer PI litigated Court/Advocacy Work.You will be a team player with excellent attention to detail, the ability to use your own initiative and to work to strict deadlines, within service standards. You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Have a genuine interest in personal injury work and be able to communicate with compassion and care to clients. They must also be committed to taking personal responsibility for their own work and to learn on the job and keep knowledge up to date.What we can offer you:
