A leading global commodities trading and investment firm are looking to recruit an Indirect Tax compliance specialist into their established function based in lovely new offices in Victoria, Central London. With registrations in numerous territories and goods moving across borders on a regular basis, the team have a number of compliance requirements to keep on top of. The successful candidate will reporting to the Group Tax Compliance Manager and interact on a daily basis with colleagues in all areas of the business in multiple locations.Key Responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of all indirect tax returns (e.g. VAT, GST, climate change levy, EU sales lists etc) to ensure compliance with reporting and collection obligations in all jurisdictions in which it operates, currently numbering 11 jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate and improve systems (both electronic and manual) to reduce the time spent on return preparation, strengthen controls and ensure readiness for future developments (e.g. e-invoicing).
  • Work with external advisors on the same and esclating key technical issues where appropriate.
  • Assist colleagues to identify the indirect tax compliance obligations for new deals and ensure these are properly managed.
You will be a qualified indirect tax specialist (ACA / ACCA / CTA) with practical experience gained in indirect taxes. Financial services and/or commodities related VAT experience would be a significant advantage, as would any prior experience of dealing with customs and duties involved in the movement of physical goods across borders. You will need to have an enquiring mind and the willingness to develop your experience in a broader, more commercial role. You will need to demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
