- Provides support in the preparation of budget/target forecasts & sequencing of commissioning activities.
- Provides support in the preparation of tender documents related to commissioning activities.
- Actively provides any other required commissioning support to the tendering teams.
- Prepares upfront commissioning documentation as required.
- Ensures the consistent application of defined commissioning strategies.
- Prepares technical & organizational specifications for commissioning activities.
- Interfaces with the Client Reps, Construction Manager (Portfolio), Project Managers, Project Engineers & Design Engineers throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Undertakes site audits of Commissioning Files and ‘Marked Up’ As Installed drawings.
- Ensures adequate resources, personnel, tools & equipment are available for successful delivery of the project.
- Attends project & client interface meetings where required and actively action any actions associated with commissioning activities.
- Set goals and objectives for the Commissioning Engineers mobilised to projects.
- Liaise with design office for timely issuance of data/information required for preparation & execution of site commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with Project Commissioning Managers where assigned.
- Lead and manage the site teams to ensure strict correct application of operational & commissioning processes / procedures and that performance standards & project objectives are met.
- Ensure the team has the right level of know-how and competency to perform their responsibilities through coaching and development.
- Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure STOP WORK POLICY is implemented within the team.
- Responsible for the correct application of GE GRID EHS Policy and procedures in all commissioning activities.
- Takes responsibility to reward and encourage proactive steps toward all matters related to EHS.
- Participates in EHS Gemba walks and EHS improvement initiatives on sites.
- Identifies and evaluate EHS risks and implements practical mitigation measures.
- Sets an example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observing work conditions and behaviors, giving immediate & constructive feedback, and celebrating achievements or safe behaviors.
- Actively participates in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
- Ensures that appropriate safe systems of work are appropriately enacted to mitigate against hazards during commissioning activities.
- Promotes safe working practices and advise on all aspects of commissioning safely.
- Comply with quality procedures, work instructions and processes.
- Ensure all non-conformances are reported and processed in a timely manner.
- Put in place procedures to ensure that commissioning activities are conducted to the satisfaction of the Customer and to the level of GE Grid standards.
- Ensures collection of key information on sites for preparation of Lessons Learned for capitalisation on future projects.
- On time Mobilisation ( staff & sub-con).
- Planning indicators (OTD, Say-do).
- Ensure weekly reports are timeously received from the site teams & follow upon any issues raised.
- Electrical Engineering degree / HND in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Appropriate health and safety experience, training and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature. GWO certification an added advantage.
- Background in high voltage electrical substation commissioning.
- Significant and demonstrated years of work experience in a HV electrical commissioning environment.
- Previous experience of undertaking the role of Commissioning Manager (HV Substation Projects) in the UK would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge & experience working in HVDC projects environments.
- Be knowledgeable on applicable UK standards and processes associated with electrical commissioning and 'best practice' in relation to high voltage projects.
- Experience in offshore substations an added advantage.
- This is an office based role but will require travel to project sites across the region. (approx. 20%)
- Ability to integrate with the GE’s wider team.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing.
- Additional language proficiency in European languages will be an added advantage.
- IT proficiency including commissioning specific platforms & tools.
