
Repeat Prescribing Clerk

- Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis, ensuring compliance with the practice protocol.
- Ensure all current medications have relevant, current authorisations.
- Promote cost-effective prescribing at the practice by switching drugs to generic preparations when appropriate and encouraging the use of local primary care trust formulary medication choices.
- Deal with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff, and reception/administration staff at the practice.
- Deal with medication changes from all hospital letters, removing old medication and adding new or making changes. Write a letter to the patient, including the new RHS and confirmation of changes. Add any relevant monitoring diaries.
- Working closely with the Prescribing Support Pharmacist.
- Act upon drug alerts.
- Add new patient medication. Pass to registered GP for approval, highlighting any concerns and relevant diaries. Liaise with patients via phone call or letter.
- Communicate with new doctors in medication review protocols and practice formulary choices.
- Provide support with any aspects of practice administration and clerical duties.
- Liaise with Pharmacies regarding monthly dossette box prescriptions. Where necessary, complete the alterations sheet for GP's signature.
- Liaise with colleagues and pharmacists in the Hub and within TMG branches.
- Attend Hub meetings.
- Attend other group sites if necessary.
- To follow CCG guidelines to facilitate the reduction of repeat prescribing costs.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested.
