- Provide cross-functional leadership, stepping in during shift manager absences to maintain continuity.
- Ensure timely material delivery to production lines to support smooth workflow.
- Oversee employee training and maintain accurate training records.
- Manage HR-related matters including attendance, timekeeping and disciplinary or grievance procedures in accordance with company policies.
- Promote strong cross-team communication by delivering timely updates, supporting a positive work environment and ensuring smooth shift handovers.
- Manage production schedules, allocate resources and resolve issues to meet targets.
- Optimise machine usage and staffing to improve efficiency and meet throughput goals.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate stock control and documentation with Logistics and oversee work order completion as QAD Super User for the Packing team.
- Monitor and analyse product and packaging waste, implementing strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Ensure all operations meet safety, quality and regulatory standards by managing non-conformances, implementing and enforcing SOPs and promoting a culture of compliance through risk identification, staff training and adherence to HACCP, BRC and customer requirements.
- Conduct weekly Health & Safety audits
- Support cross-functional problem-solving during breakdowns, quality issues, or major engineering work.
- Timely reporting of any engineering issues to minimise asset loss time.
- Act as first responder and Site Controller during safety or security incidents.
- Participate in the weekend callout rota, overseeing out-of-hours site security and emergency response.
- This role includes ad-hoc duties as required to support the wider operations team.
- Flexibility to work shifts and participate in the weekend callout rota is essential.
- Previous supervisory experience in an FMCG environment.
- Level 3 food safety.
- HACCP level 3.
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills – confident in working with all aspects of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to priorities tasks, effective planning, attention to detail and working to deadlines.
- Excellent people management skills with a proven ability to lead, develop, coach and mentor team members.
- Flexibility to adapt easily and re-prioritise to ensure deadlines are met.
