JOB DESCRIPTION:Location: Central London (W1)MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLELeading the commercial organisation for Lingo, the consumer biowearable division of Abbott Laboratories.This role is to provide strategic leadership, planning and direction of a sales team for the UK, building out the appropriate organisational set up and strategy for other EMEA markets as required. The key responsibility of this role is to grow sales for all existing and yet to be launched Lingo products, with ownership of the commercial P&L as well as forecast pipeline growth.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for driving and achieving Lingo’s sales goals for a large, defined geographic area (UK to start, other EMEA markets to follow).
  • Responsible for providing strategic leadership, planning and direction for the commercial team to achieve sales targets and business objectives. responsible for staff and fiscal management, compliance to internal and external industry standards.
  • Drive relationships with key customers to positively influence and position Lingo’s portfolio of products to achieve established sales goals. Work with global commercial team to grow our position and results in key multi-national clients.
  • Develop local relationships with key distributors (retail, wholesale, B2B and other) to help achieve business expansion objectives. Look for new distribution opportunities and work with internal teams to enable these as sales channels.
  • Lead by example and test & learn, taking a hands on approach to developing leads, generating pipeline and understanding the commercial deal structures and creative out of the box distribution approaches Lingo can take to grow sales in the UK.
  • Develop and end-to-end sales cycle and organisation, including management of existing accounts and expanding the customer base within targeted key market segments. Identify key skills/ resource gaps and find ways innovative ways to resolve these.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time both domestically and internationally (UK focused initially)
  • Operate with fiscal responsibility and oversight.
This position is accountable for the following:
  • Definition and implementation of strategy, scope, process, and programs which drive sales.
  • Development of commercial organisation to execute on the sales and account management strategy.
  • Providing a significant and positive impact to short-term, mid-range and long-term organizational goals.
  • Demonstrating continual improvement in commercial processes including sales process and challenger methodology, forecasting and pipeline management, and key/global account leadership.
  • Creating a work environment that supports cross-functional, pan-European as well as global team effectiveness.
  • Management and development of reporting staff. Mentor others as appropriate.

Interacts internally and externally with executive-level management requiring negotiation of extremely difficult matters to influence key stakeholders. MBA preferred.Experience/Background
  • 10+ years of business experience in multi-channel Sales: 5+ years of UK wholesale and retail experience (B2B2C and B2B, bricks & mortar and e-commerce). 5+ years of Large Account Management experience.
  • Experience in selling complex consumer goods & / or subscription products to large UK retailers (such as Boots, John Lewis, Amazon etc) and leading account teams.
  • Extensive experience in sales management across EMEA through consumer retail.
  • Track record of driving sales where there are multiple decision-makers across numerous functional areas within the sales environment.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse EMEA staff to drive the execution of critical strategies and programs across a large organization.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately evaluate and assess complex processes. identify possible solutions and drive to resolution.
  • Interact effectively with all levels of employees and outside professionals, many of which are at Executive / C-Suite levels.
  • Knowledge of financial, competitive, regulatory environment (as applicable).
