Targeting audiences interested in the region in English language speaking countries and communities, led by the UK, North America, South and East Asia, and Australia/New Zealand.The New Arab's diverse newsroom offers a platform for the voice of the Middle East and aims to provoke an exchange of ideas and open discussion in a responsible manner via news, in-depth analysis and comment. We have a large pool of journalists from all backgrounds, allowing us to provide fruitful and insightful reporting on cultural and social issues, as well as political and humanitarian issues.The New Arab is the English sister publication of Arabic daily newspaper and online news outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadeed and is part of the Fadaat Media network, which allows us to leverage sprawling networks of correspondents in the region and their high-quality output, as well as its own resources.Key Responsibilities:
  • Video editing: Edit and assemble recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product ready for broadcasting. This includes selecting the best shots, integrating sound, and ensuring a cohesive narrative flow.
  • Motion graphics: Design and incorporate motion graphics elements to enhance video content, using tools like Adobe After Effects. Create engaging visuals that align with brand guidelines and project objectives.
  • Videography support: Assist in planning and executing video shoots, including setting up equipment, lighting, and capturing high-quality footage. Collaborate with the production team to ensure visual consistency and storytelling effectiveness.
  • Content adaptation: Modify and repurpose video content for various platforms, ensuring optimal formatting and engagement across social media channels, websites, and other digital outlets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the other team members, including graphic designers and journalists, to develop concepts and execute video projects from inception to completion.
Requirements:
  • Full proficiency in English
  • Right to work in UK with no sponsorship required in the future
  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in video editing, with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects. Familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.
  • Videography knowledge: Basic understanding of camera operation, lighting setups, and audio recording. Experience in shooting video content is advantageous.
  • Storytelling ability: Strong sense of narrative structure and pacing, with the ability to craft compelling stories through visual media.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous approach to editing, ensuring high-quality output with a focus on continuity, colour grading, and sound design.
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality.
Desirable:
  • News & Scriptwriting: A background in journalism or news, with strong skills in research and scriptwriting for digital video.
  • Animation: Experience with 2D/3D animation techniques and software.
  • Live streaming: Familiarity with live streaming setups and software.
  • Social media trends: Understanding of current trends in digital media and how to create content that resonates with online audiences.
  • Audio editing: Skills in audio mixing and sound design to enhance video content.
  • Fluent in Arabic
