Our client, an esteemed organisation in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer specialising in Development Management to join their team in Essex.Key skills required for this rolehighway development management control senior engineerImportantHighways - development managementJob descriptionThis is a permanent, full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to work in partnership with the county council.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Highway Authority with consultations with the Local Planning Authority for proposed developments.
  • Agree detailed designs and ensure planning permission conditions/obligations are met.
  • Attend/Chair meetings and respond to site/design queries in a timely manner.
  • Undertake extensive stakeholder liaison (both internal and external).
  • Ensure statutory processes are followed as required.
  • Instruct legal agreements to allow developer infrastructure works to be adopted as public highway.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice on highway-related matters to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the general public.
  • Manage and provide technical direction for team members regarding all aspects of the highway service.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in development management, highway engineering, and development control.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject or proven experience in highways and/or transportation.
  • Expert knowledge in relevant professional areas, with membership of a professional institution such as CIHT being desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of Highway Legislation, relevant design procedures, standards, and good practice.
  • In-depth understanding of national guidance, legislation, and regulations relating to highway scheme design and implementation, particularly the Highway Act 1980 and CDM 2015.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ability to build collaborative and influential networks and partnerships.
  • Demonstrable project management experience and proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft applications.
