- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council
- On the Orthodontic Specialist list of the United Kingdom General Dental Council.
- Membership in Orthodontics or Equivalent
- Possession of a CCST in Orthodontics (or within 6 months of achievement) or Equivalent
- Possession of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics(before commencing post) or Equivalent
- Other Postgraduate qualification in Orthodontics or equivalent (e.g. MSc , Professional Doctorate )
- Experience in the multi-disciplinary management of orthodontic patients
- Experience in the day to day clinical management of an Orthodontic service
- Clinical leadership experience in Orthodontics
- Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
- Research qualification (e.g. MRes, PhD)
- Participation in clinical research
- Publications in peer reviewed journals
- Participation in research relevant to Orthodontics
- Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level.
- Teaching qualification
- Experience in supervising StRs and postgraduates
- Effective participation in clinical audit/service evaluations/quality improvement programmes
- Lead role in the delivery of QI initiatives
- Communication Skills: Demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication & capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation. Able to build rapport, listen, persuade & negotiate
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Capacity to use logical/lateral thinking to solve problems/make decisions
- Managing Others & Team Involvement: Capacity to work effectively with others. Able to work in multi-professional teams & supervise junior medical staff
- Empathy & Sensitivity: Capacity to take in others' perspectives and treat others with understanding; sees patients as people
- Organisation & Planning: Capacity to manage/prioritise time and information effectively. Capacity to prioritise own workload. Basic IT skills
