- Lead and manage Health & Safety risk and property damage projects from initial assessment through to resolution. This includes providing on-site expert support during client restoration processes to ensure full compliance with statutory H&S regulations.
- Deliver expert technical H&S input both remotely and during fieldwork/site visits across a range of scenarios, including:
- Fire & Smoke Damage: Assess contamination spread, conduct cost vs. damage analysis, ensure regulatory compliance, and advise on H&S requirements during restoration.
- Water & Mould Damage: Perform indoor environmental quality assessments, evaluate health risks, and develop remediation strategies.
- Fuel Spillages: Conduct environmental impact assessments, plan mitigation, and oversee remediation efforts.
- Asbestos & Hazardous Materials: Ensure compliance with the UK Asbestos Regulations 2012, manage abatement strategies, and oversee contractors handling asbestos, lead, mould, and contaminated land.
- General Property Damage: Provide H&S oversight during restoration following severe weather or other disaster events.
- Support the UK business in developing and maintaining compliance with ISO 45001, contributing to the continuous improvement of health and safety management systems.
- Possess or develop knowledge of hazardous waste disposal and the transportation of dangerous goods-experience in these areas is highly desirable.
- Interpret and evaluate technical reports to assess the adequacy of findings and their implications for liability and cost.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation; familiarity with broader EU regulations is a plus.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise expert reports, and effectively communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Support business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and relationship management.
- Maintain and grow a portfolio of client relationships-a portable book of business is highly desirable
- A degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, Geology, Chemistry, Public Health, or Civil Engineering with environmental modules.
- Ideally, 15+ years of experience in Health & Safety consultancy, with a strong technical background in fire, water, mold, asbestos, and contamination-related claims.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines; project management qualifications are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
- Demonstrated success in business development, including proposal writing and client retention.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, BOHS, IEMA, CIWEM, or similar) are preferred.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership, with the ability to achieve it in a short timeframe through documented experience.
- Experience working with insurers, loss adjusters, or legal teams on H&S matters.
- A strong professional network within the H&S, environmental consulting, or insurance sectors.
