- At least 3-5 years of experience in a senior culinary role, preferably within an education or high-volume catering setting.
- A strong understanding of nutritional requirements for children and young people, and the ability to cater for various dietary needs (allergies, intolerances, cultural/religious requirements).
- A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- Relevant professional catering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery, Diploma in Culinary Arts).
- Up-to-date Food Hygiene and Safety certifications (e.g., Level 3 Supervising Food Safety).
- Culinary Excellence: Proven ability to prepare and present high-quality, appealing, and nutritious meals on a large scale.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong skills in leading, motivating, training, and managing a kitchen team effectively.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Experience in managing kitchen budgets, controlling stock, and minimizing waste without compromising quality.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Thorough knowledge and strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations (HACCP principles).Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with school management, staff, suppliers, and students.
- Menu Planning & Innovation: Creativity in developing diverse, seasonal, and appealing menus that meet dietary requirements and student preferences.
