We're working with a local authority in South Yorkshire seeking a skilled practitioner to join their Learning Disabilities Team. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities - all while enjoying flexible working and a supportive team environment.👩💼 About the Role
You'll join a dynamic team responsible for:
🔹 Screening incoming safeguarding referrals
🔹 Managing complex safeguarding cases
🔹 Carrying out Care Act assessments
🔹 Leading on safeguarding enquiries and multi-agency collaboration
🔹 Participating in duty rota functions
🔹 Working closely with families and partner agencies to achieve sustainable outcomes
You'll be empowered to manage your own diary - provided statutory visits and responsibilities are met.🧠 What You'll Need
We're looking for someone who can bring professional expertise, empathy, and strong legal knowledge to the role.
✅ Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
✅ 4+ years' experience in Adult Social Care, ideally within Learning Disabilities or Locality Teams
✅ Strong working knowledge of key legislation:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Mental Health Act
- Human Rights Act
✅ Confident working across multi-disciplinary settings
✅ Skilled in mediation, negotiation, and building strong professional relationships🛠️ In This Role, You Will:
- Complete full assessments of need, risk, and protection
- Manage an agreed caseload
- Devise person-centred care plans that promote dignity, independence, and empowerment
- Use specialist communication to support best outcomes
- Provide advice and mentoring to students and unqualified staff
