- Enforce food, hygiene, and standards regulations, as well as health and safety, public health, and port health legislation.
- Recommend and implement formal actions, including prosecution and closure of premises.
- Inspect food manufacturing, storage, and retail premises to support statutory food and port health functions.
- Maintain accurate records, compile reports, and take legal actions as required.
- Investigate public health incidents and occupational health accidents.
- Provide advice and enforce actions when necessary, ensuring public health and safety.
- Undertake investigative sampling and analyze results, particularly regarding product safety and food standards.
- Perform other duties as reasonably expected at this level.Requirements:
Applicants must have experience inspecting commercial premises and vessels and possess a detailed understanding of food and public health legislation. You should hold a relevant qualification, such as Environmental Health Officer accreditation or the Higher Certificate in Food Control, alongside practical experience in food regulatory controls.
