Job DescriptionSOC Shift Leader - Defence Cyber Security
Location: Stevenage
Clearance: SC cleared and must be eligible for DV Clearance
Salary: £70K + Shift allowanceIm working with one of the leading defence technology companies in the world, this SOC Shift Leader role is a chance to help shape how a 24/7 Cyber Security Operations Centre runs.
As SOC Shift Leader, you'll work across three rotating teams of Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts, keeping everything running smoothly, ensuring the highest standards in threat detection, and making sure every shift hands over cleanly to the next. You'll still be hands-on with alerts, triage, and tooling, but you'll also be that go-to person for quality, consistency, and keeping the team on top of the latest threats.This SOC Shift Leader role will cover these key area:
  • Operational Excellence - Overseeing active shifts, reviewing casework, and making sure standards are met every single time.
  • Mentorship - Supporting less experienced analysts, sharing knowledge in real time, and spotting training needs early.
  • Continuous Improvement - Feeding back on processes, updating SOPs, and helping the SOC evolve.
You'll be the SOC Shift Leader who bridges the gap between the analysts on the floor and the SOC Manager, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response teams making sure communication is clear and everyone is aligned.To secure this SOC Shift Leader role you will have:
  • Strong cyber security background across network security, infrastructure, and operating systems.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading in a SOC environment.
  • A solid grasp of the OSI model and network protocols like DNS, HTTP/S, SSL, SMTP, FTP/S, and LDAP/S.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM tools and/or packet capture tools.
  • You must hold SC clearance and be willing and able to undertake DV
