Are you a Telecoms/ SCADA Project Engineer with experience of working on major infrastructure projects?Do you have a design background with experience of site based work ensuring build is done to design specifications?Location: Canary Wharf - site based 5 days a week
Rate: Dependant on experience - Inside IR35
Contract Length: Initial 6 monthsThis role will be working on behalf of a design consultancy and certifying to the contractor that the works have been built in accordance with the design. To certify the design, you will be the resident engineer on site to inspect the works as they are being installed.There are two positions; one will be responsible for the SCADA and one for the telecommunication systems and control systems elements of these inspections. The work is expected to go to the end of 2024 and potentially further.Responsibilities:
·Reviewing contractor's inspection and test plans and commissioning plans and identifying inspection requirements
·Coordinating the response to contractor's submissions, fabrication drawings, requests for information, non-conformance reports, site design changes and as-built drawings, with our design teams in UK/Denmark/India
·Accountability for preparation of designer's site records within work packageTelecoms experience:
oboth ELV wired systems and some wireless capability if we can get it (a bit aspirational)
oUnderstanding of power requirements of equipment and able to coordinate with electrical designers to ensure this is accounted for in power systems design
oUnderstanding of ELV earthing needs for the system, including impact of interference with other electrical equipment
oExperience of cable management system sizing for telecoms equipment.
oExperience of developing equipment specifications for CCTV, Telephony as well as I/O schedules.
oIdeally able to do appropriate calculations related to bandwidth and signal losses, including impact of loss-inducing devices (couplers etc.)Scada Experience:
oSCADA, PLC (and BMS) architecture, hardware and software requirements definition to achieve appropriate solutions
oCoding not required for the role but good overarching computer telecoms and computer science knowledge is helpful
oSystems engineering and SIL understanding an advantageRequirements:
·MEng or BEng
·Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards this.
·Experience of overseeing SCADA, control systems and communication systems installations and commissioning, either as a designer, contractor or client's representative on major infrastructure projects.
·Experience in designing the Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control Audio Visual System and IDS), Fire Alarm & Detection System, ICT Systems (Telecommunication System, Data Networking and Radio System) would be an added advantage.
·Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
·A CSCS card will be required for the role
·Awareness of BSEN61508 safety integrity levels
